I'M BACK!

Update!

Sonia over at In Pursuit of Style has been the catalyst to get me to start blogging again. I've relocated to NYC (The Capital of American Fashion) and am eager to dive right back in!

Here are some great shots from the All Saints Summer lookbook that I'm absolutely loving right now:

Fall is Here :)

With Fall around the corner it's time to stock up on some heavier weight pieces for this transitional season. Here's a quick and dirty to what's trending in mens wear from my vantage point:

BEAT UP Denim - Destruction, Paint Splatter, Rip & Repair will all be seen in mass retailers come August
Denim on top. The Denim Shirt is back. Chambrays also remain important. There is some sexy about a relaxed billowy chambray shirt. Gap has a great offering:

Looser bottom silhouettes (is SKINNY out?)
PLAID PLAID PLAID (Western Style Shirts).
CAMO .. BELIEVE IT!

What's OUT
Shine. Metallic and shiny nylon fabrications are out.
IN-DOOR SCARVES

Here are some of my favorite looks from DSQUARED from their fall runway show. Enjoy!

Absolutely Stunning.

Jolie definitely took the price for biggest statement at the Academy Awards last night.. she was wearing an Elie Saab gown and whoppers of emeralds - the ring was reported to be 65 carats and the earrings - 115 carats. Estimates are saying that they were worth around $20mill.. nutso

Iconic Bags

Last night over drinks I was talking to a co-worker of mine who was about to start a merchandising position in women's accessories. Specifically handbags...

He considers himself a "dude" and honestly didn't know the first thing about woman's handbags.

We started talking about what makes a bag "iconic" and how it influcences mass retailers in shape and aesthetic.

Iconic bags are great for fashion houses because they can season in and season out be recreated with different variations, new colors, exotic leathers etc. And price tag doesn't always equate status symbol.. there has to be some history to the bag.

For example, the Ralph Lauren Ricki bag was probably thought up to directly compete with the Birkin .. but just because there was a $8k+ price ticket on it and a huge ad campaign behind it didn't mean it would immediately become a status symbol. I remember seeing them at a sample sale a few months ago for 75% off...

Here are a few timeless shapes that came to mind: The Louis Vuitton Speedy (The Shape not the Print of course!)

The Dior Saddlebag

The Hermes Kelly Bag

The Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag

The Hermes Birkin

The Classic Chanel Quilt

The Chloe Paddington

The Fendi Spybag

Who's ready for Fall?

Here are some of the Fall looks from Byblos, Etro, Missoni and Lanvin I've really been loving. I'm obsessed with the dusty color pallate and the skinny decorative scarves! The red pop sunglasses are freaking awesome too :)

My name is yours, can I sleep on your floor?

Welcome to my blog! I've worked in fashion for the past 2 years and will be using this space to collecy the different things I see out there and love in the world of fashion, art, furniture design, whatever. I just moved to San Francisco from New York City and have been eagerly exploring my new city.
Although I am now 3,000 miles from the pulse of American fashion, I made the move for the right reasons. I'm now working at an iconic American clothing retailer, currently in the e-commerce division. The forefront of technology and fashion.
Speaking of combining fahsion and futuristic technology. I recently acquired these great Alejandro Ingelmo silver high-tops from gilt.com I'm still figuring out how to wear them. So far I've decided skinny jeans and a studded rocker-esque tee.
More to come!
